A visionary producer, gifted arranger & prolific composer
David Foster brings a rare combination of talent, taste, and dedication to his work. Over the past two decades, he has gone from achievement to achievement; including a phenomenal string of #1 hit records with multi-platinum artists such as Chicago and Celine Dion. David has been nominated for a staggering 44 Grammys, winning 14. Founder of his own label, 143 Records (through Warner Brothers), Foster is a man whose amazing career is just hitting its stride.
The new millennium began with Foster's newest passion - the discovery of new talent. His 143 Records signed and produced 24-year-old pop sensation Josh Groban, whose critically acclaimed albums have sold
over 13 million copies worldwide. Next in Foster's sights was fellow Canadian Michael Bublé, a modern day crooner whose debut album reached the No. 1 position in six countries. With the release of his follow up album It's Time, Bublé's album sales have now topped 6 million copies. Foster's latest discovery, 16-year-old Renee Olstead, has been hailed by critics as 'the new Billie Holiday.'
Aside from his new discoveries, Foster wrote and produced the Golden Globe winning song 'The Prayer' for Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, produced the Nicole Kidman / Ewan McGregor duet 'Come What May' from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, and has produced a plethora of hits for the likes of Madonna, Whitney Houston and The Corrs. In 2005 David produced the Destiny's Child song 'Stand Up For Love' which became the 2005 World Children's day anthem. Having already written 3 Olympic songs, Foster wrote, 'Because we believe' for Andrea Bocelli, which they performed at the closing ceremonies at the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. David also produced Bocelli's latest album which was released on Valentines day of this year.
Foster's producing and writing talents hold equal importance to his commitment to giving back to the community and children's advocacy. Since its inception in 1986, the David Foster Foundation has raised over four million dollars to assist families of children in need of organ transplants. Additionally, David has lent his musical skills to well over 300 charitable events and organizations including the Andre Agassi Foundation, Race to Erase MS, Muhammad Ali's Fight Night Foundation, CapCure Prostate Cancer Research Foundation, The Carousel Ball and Cedars-Sinai Research for Women's Cancer, amongst many others.
In 2006, David was honoured as an Officer of the Order of Canada |
