Q. What should I wear?
A. Something that looks good! Make sure you are comfortable and wearing shoes you can walk in! This is a performance so you should dress to impress.
Q. Will I be able to listen to the other contestants?
A. That is up to you. If you would like, you can watch your fellow contestants or you can remain in the staging area until it is your time to shine!
Q. What time should I arrive and do I need to bring anything?
A. Contestants are required to be at the venue one hour prior to start time to check in at registration. You need to bring a CD with your backtrack and ID. Please make sure your CD is clearly labeled and ONLY has that one song on it. We will not be able to search your music while you are on stage.
Q. Can I bring my mom, dad, brother, sister, best friend, cousin, etc?
A. Absolutely, the more the merrier! Everyone is welcome (except pets!). This is your performance and having faces you know in the audience is great encouragement. But please say goodbye to them before you head to the registration table! The staging areas are for contestants only; family and friends can grab their seats in the theatre.
Q. How long are the finals?
A. Each regional final will last approximately 2 hours. Make sure you have a snack before you come; you can't eat in the theatre!
Q. When do I find out if I have won?
A. That day! We won't make you wait. Our judges will share notes, deliberate, and come to their decision after all the contestants have performed.
Q. I'm under 19, can I still get into the casino location?
A. You are not able to enter the actual casino, but you will be able to get into the theatre to perform. Remember, you still need to bring ID for the registration table.
Q. Will we be using microphones?
A. Yes. We have arranged for cordless microphones so you have room to move on stage and can give it your all!
Q. Instead of using a back-track can I bring my guitar and play it on stage instead?
A. Unfortunately we can't accommodate instruments. This is a singing competition and so at each theatre we're set-up to hear you sing! We want your voice to be heard at its best.
Q. Can we reserve seats in advance?
A. Unfortunately we can't pre-book. Remember, tickets are free and there are no age restrictions. Anyone can come!
The Prize...
Q. What are the prizes?
A. One performer will be the overall winner. That person will get the opportunity of a lifetime, to perform at the David Foster and Friends 2006 Charity Gala on September 10th, 2006, the very same event as Michael Bublé and other special guests at the River Rock Casino Resort.
Q. Can I get a record deal?
A. Can you? If you've got what it takes, anything in life is possible! Will you? Not as part of this contest sorry. You never know where the opportunity could lead though - this event will be attended by some major movers and shakers
Q. If I'm a finalist, will I get to meet David Foster or Michael Bublé?
A. David yes! He will be overseeing the final in Richmond. Michael, maybe - bring a camera just in case!
Q. Why do hot dogs come in packs of 12 and hot dog buns come in packs of 8?
A. Tell me about it!!!! Isn't that infuriating!!! Fortunately, the River Rock Casino Resort is a world class venue and doesn't have to worry about that!
